Clips, Auto Sync, and Variant Cropping

Clips

  • New: Clips are split into their own tab to make it easier to see how your media will be broken up into a timeline in FCP or Resolve with the option to re-order just like you would a sentence.

  • New: Jump to Clip - get to the start of the clip easily.

  • Keywords shown in clips rather than transcript view to keep mental association clearer.

  • New: Easily re-order clips the same way as you’d re-order sentences in your transcript pane.

Transcript

  • New: Adaptive audio adjustment to improve transcription accuracy for quiet recordings.

  • New: When playing we now present a Follow Playback button that takes you to a follow-along style interaction.

  • New: When paused it shows a new Jump to Current button to scroll to that zone.

  • Move handles are only shown when valid sentences are selected for re-order.

  • The current word indicator beam now pulsates when the video is paused.

  • Fixed edge cases that could prevent Duplicate Existing from creating a transcript copy.

  • New: Auto Edit ⌘⌥E toolbar icon for text-based editing tools (Profanity, Filler Filters)

  • New: Audio Edit ⌘⌥A toolbar icon for audio-based editing tools (Auto Sync, Silence Removal)

  • New: Auto Sync to match external audio files automatically using waveform and word matching technology.

  • Review Sequence prompts are now surfaced with a limit in-place.

  • Project switching and startup restoration are faster and more reliable.

  • Large workspaces and transcript panes received substantial rendering and playback performance improvements.

Variants

  • New: Set a custom frame/crop scoped to each variant, applies for both NLE and direct export.

Player

  • New: Hover preview of frame, glide your cursor over the track bar to see a preview of the frame at a given timestamp.

  • New: Detached player mode which pulls the player pane into a separate window, useful for multi-monitor setups or final review stages.

  • Media information now includes available audio tracks, subtitle tracks, and chapters.

  • External audio playback and audio-offset handling were substantially improved.

  • Audio-only projects now load reliably without waiting for video feed.

Export

  • New: Export captions using Final Cut Pro 12.3’s native subtitle format, including supported word-highlight animation.

  • New: Set resolution and frame rate settings to apply to your timeline in FCP or Resolve.

  • New: Fractional frame rate support: 59.94, 29.97, and 23.976 fps options were explicitly added to both Direct Export and NLE timeline export.

  • New: Direct Export lets you render your edit directly from Sequence without using an NLE..

  • New: Frame Export exports the current frame to either PNG, JPG or Copy to Clipboard.

  • Final Cut Pro export no longer creates unnecessary cuts at silent moments that haven’t been removed

  • DaVinci Resolve export now uses an FCPXML timeline instead of Lua scripting, making it available to Resolve Free users.

Settings

  • Sequence can securely back up its encrypted library to your private iCloud database when the app closes, with backup status, manual controls, and restore support in Settings.

  • New: Vocabulary Replacement to apply custom replacement for specific words automatically, helping for brand names that get misinterpreted by transcription models.

  • New: View two-factor authentication status and registered passkeys.

  • New: Remove passkeys and revoke other activated devices directly.

  • New: Account data controls for requesting your data or deleting your account.

  • New: Manage product analytics, error reporting, and newsletter preferences.

Onboarding & Recovery

  • New: If the local library cannot be opened, Sequence now offers recovery options including retrying, restoring from iCloud, resetting the library, or quitting.

  • iCloud backups are validated before restoration to detect incomplete or corrupted backups.

  • Backup and restore status is surfaced in Settings.

  • Account, analytics, and privacy preferences are now synchronized more reliably during onboarding.

General

  • Various stability improvements, code quality improvements, and minor UI polish throughout the app.

  • Support for multi-file dock drop import, previously it was only single file or folders of media.

  • Fixed an issue where some transcriptions could fail to save when processing large batches.

  • Keywords generation is improved.

  • Search reliability improved.

  • Fixed external audio alignment in Final Cut Pro and Resolve exports.

  • Fixed intermittent database-busy errors affecting transcript loading, saving, and global search.
