MCP Connections and Expanded Project Automation

Sequence CLI 1.1.2 adds a local Model Context Protocol server and expands project automation. It includes Sequence runtime 4.2.7.

Connect an AI Assistant

  • Start the local MCP server with sq mcp serve and connect a compatible AI client.
  • Discover projects and use supported editing workflows through Sequence 1.4.

Project Automation

  • Inspect transcripts, clips, markers, variants, and timeline projections.
  • Apply supported clip, trim, transcript-visibility, and speaker-name edits.
  • Start app-managed jobs and inspect their progress.
  • Check app access and installation with sq app doctor.

Compatibility

The new app-automation and MCP workflows require Sequence 1.4 or later, with Automation enabled and the app signed in, activated, and unlocked. Installing this CLI alongside an older app does not enable those workflows.

Requires an Apple silicon Mac running macOS 15 or later. The release includes the FFmpeg tools needed by its media workflows.
