Command Center, Keywords & App Store Release
June was a month of serious depth, brand new Command Center, on-device keyword generation, significant transcription performance gains, and Sequence officially landing on the Mac App Store.
The Main Pieces
Command Center (⌘K). The headline feature of June. Hit ⌘K from anywhere in the app and you get instant access to features - a shortcut of kind, that changes how you move through the app every single day.
Auto-Generated Keywords. Sequence now uses your transcript and automatically generates keywords per clip, visible right in the transcription pane and consolidated in the metadata pane. The keywords and there linked clip gets carried right through into your Final Cut Pro export. Less metadata work for you, more context in your timeline when trying to find moments in FCP.
Sequence is now on the Mac App Store. v1.2.5 is live on the App Store right now. If you've been waiting to download via the App Store, or want to share Sequence with someone who prefers it - now you can. Sign In with Apple is supported on the App Store version, using the native Apple ID sheet with no browser redirect (exclusive to App Store).
macOS Share Extension. You can now import media directly from Finder's share sheet, or drop media or a folder onto the dock icon. Small feature, big quality of life upgrade.
Under the Hood
Transcript speed, again. v1.2.3 pushed transcript scrolling up to in some cases 120fps. This month was a continued deep investment in making the transcript pane feel effortless regardless of project size (still more to come!).
Faster project opens. v1.2.4 brought noticeably faster project opening for larger transcripts, and reduced workspace freezes during project open and search.
Clip rails now show export state. At a glance you can see exactly which clips will make it into your export, no more guessing.
Sequence Updater. Edge cases that previously caused the updater to stall or fail silently have been addressed. Updates should now just work.
Project Covers. Embedded artwork detection for project covers.
Export to File. Quick export from the transcript more menu (TXT, SRT, etc).
What's Coming
A quick update on two features that were on the horizon last month.
MCP is coming in early August, timed intentionally to align with the new MCP spec. Worth the wait - Sorry on the delay.
Direct Export is ready! but we're holding it for 1.3.0 (for good reason), which is shaping up to be a big one.
Direct export will arrive alongside auto-sync external audio and frame cropping, so rather than ship it in pieces, you get the full package together.
More on 1.3.0 soon.
