May Was Huge! Performance, Features and Polish

May was one of the most feature-packed months since launch covering big features, a full engine rewrite, and a mountain of UX polish.

The Big Launches

Markers. You can now press M to drop a custom marker, which exports cleanly to FCP or Resolve. They show up on the scrub bar too, so you always know where you are across your project.

DaVinci Resolve Export. A native .drp export. It’s marked as beta (even though we can’t get it to fail in testing), so we welcome a whole new set of editors to Sequence!

Remove Silence. The headline feature of the month. Sequence now detects silent moments in your audio automatically, with per-project threshold controls that reveal “silence chips” in the transcript pane. Hit Delete to remove silence or run an entire pass automatically on a project.

Under the Hood

Biggest performance jump yet. The internal engine was mostly rewritten, making loading, searching, and editing noticeably snappier.

J/K/L shuttle controls. Giving the media player proper NLE feel with speed-ramping playback.

Sidecar file exports. Exports now include .srt, .vtt, .csv, .txt, .sbv, and .ass files for custom caption and subtitle workflows.

Polish & Fixes

Beyond the headliners, May saw a mountain of UX polish: improved marquee selection in the transcript, shift-click word selection, project covers and pinning in the Library, custom profanity symbols, an MP3→M4A auto-conversion toggle, and a Reset History button. Search was reworked for speed, and transcript scrolling is now even faster.

What’s Coming Next

MCP and direct export are the main ones coming in June, both already in internal testing!

MCP allows you to connect an agent to Sequence, access any of the tools and automate even further.

Stability, performance and quality of life updates will also be a focus, just as they have been this past month.
