Reframe a shot

Composition Crop adjusts the visible area of a video without changing the source media. Use it to improve framing, remove an unwanted edge, or prepare a landscape, portrait, square, or custom-aspect edit.

Adjust the crop

1. Select the variant or programme you want to reframe.
2. Open Metadata → Variant and find Composition.
3. Click the pencil beside Crop.
4. Choose Landscape, Portrait, Square, or Custom. Custom exposes width and height ratio fields; these specify an aspect ratio, not an output resolution.
5. Drag the crop area in the player to position it, or resize it to tighten the framing.
6. Click the checkmark to save. The cross cancels the unsaved changes.

Choose Source to keep the source aspect ratio. Reset Composition restores the default framing. Framing controls require accessible video media; they are not shown for an audio-only project.

Variants and export

Saved framing belongs to the active editing version, so variants can use different crops from the same source. Playback, finished exports, and supported editor handoffs use the saved composition.
