Keyboard Shortcuts

Sequence exposes shortcuts for common workflow actions such as importing media, creating catalogs, creating variants, exporting, undo/redo, playback, seek and shuttle controls, pane toggles, transcript movement, grouping, and find next or previous.

When you edit a shortcut, Sequence checks for conflicts and reserved macOS shortcuts. If a combination is not available, the app tells you rather than saving a shortcut that would not work reliably.

If you’d like more shortcuts added, reach out to us. A lot of the current shortcuts came from user requests after launch.

General

General settings cover app behavior such as notifications, launch preferences, and access to common storage locations. If you work with long videos, turning on system notifications is useful because Sequence can tell you when background jobs like transcription, conversion, normalizations have finished.

Cache and storage

Sequence provides quick access links to the database storage location and cache locations. The encrypted database is local to Sequence and stores your projects, transcripts, settings, and history. Cache folders are used for prepared media, metadata, generated beep files, model preparation, and other temporary work. Sequence automatically cleans up cache files that aren’t needed, so likely you’ll never need to touch this folder.

If you do clear the cache, the app may feel less fluid immediately afterward.

Privacy

During onboarding, Sequence asks how you want data handled for product analytics, error reporting, and marketing updates. These choices are optional, and you can change your mind later from Settings → Privacy.

Product analytics are used to understand which features are used most. Error reporting helps diagnose crashes and production issues. Marketing updates are separate, so you can opt in or out without changing your core app workflow.

Transcription and models

The Transcription settings area is where you download or delete the local Encrypted Core ML model, and tune caption behavior.

Conversion and audio settings

Conversion settings contain defaults for remuxing, media conversion, codec behavior, MP3-to-M4A compatibility conversion, and original-file deletion after remuxing.

Audio settings include profanity word-list management and other audio-related defaults used by cleanup and export.
