Keyboard shortcuts

Sequence includes shortcuts for importing media, creating Catalogs and variants, exporting, undo and redo, playback, seeking, shuttle controls, pane toggles, transcript editing, grouping, and search navigation.

The video shortcuts include frame stepping, loop playback, transcript captions, frame capture, volume, markers, and shuttle controls. Transcript commands also include Bigger Text (⌘+), Smaller Text (⌘-), and Actual Size (⌘0).

When you edit a shortcut, Sequence checks for conflicts and reserved macOS shortcuts. If a combination is not available, the app tells you rather than saving a shortcut that would not work reliably.

If an important action is missing, send the request through the Support page. Many current shortcuts began as user suggestions.

General

General settings cover app behaviour such as notifications, launch preferences, and access to storage locations. System notifications are useful for long-running transcription, conversion, and normalisation jobs.

Cache and storage

Sequence provides quick links to the database and cache locations. The encrypted local database stores projects, transcripts, settings, and history. Cache folders hold prepared media, metadata, generated beep files, model preparation, and other temporary work. Sequence removes unneeded cache files automatically, so manual cleanup is rarely required.

If you do clear the cache, the app may feel less fluid immediately afterward.

Privacy

During onboarding, Sequence asks how you want data handled for product analytics, error reporting, and marketing updates. These choices are optional, and you can change your mind later from Settings → Privacy.

Product analytics are used to understand which features are used most. Error reporting helps diagnose crashes and production issues. Marketing updates are separate, so you can opt in or out without changing your core app workflow.

Transcription and models

Use Settings → Transcription to download or delete the encrypted Core ML model and adjust caption behaviour.

Conversion and audio settings

Conversion settings contain defaults for remuxing, media conversion, codec behaviour, MP3-to-M4A compatibility conversion, and original-file deletion after remuxing.

Audio settings include the profanity word list and other defaults used during cleanup and export.
