DaVinci Resolve export

1. Open the variant or Multi-Cam programme you want to deliver.
2. Select Export and choose DaVinci Resolve as the destination.
3. Choose whether to include native titles, and set the timeline resolution and frame rate if needed.
4. Save the export. Sequence writes an .fcpxmld bundle containing Info.fcpxml and generated media.
5. Open DaVinci Resolve, then choose File → Import → Timeline and select the saved export. Sequence's completion action launches or activates Resolve; it does not import the timeline automatically.

If Resolve's file picker does not expose the bundle's XML, use Show Package Contents in Finder to locate Info.fcpxml. Keep it with the bundle's media rather than moving out the XML alone.

Export format

This uses FCPXML 1.14 interchange, not a .drp project or the Resolve scripting bridge. It does not require Resolve Studio or a scripting setup. The installed Resolve version must be able to import the interchange; review the imported result before continuing.

The native Export inspector uses regular titles and does not offer the Final Cut keyword option for Resolve. Set the timeline format before saving; Source retains the resolved format, and the inspector disables sizes and frame rates above the known source format.

What Sequence sends to Resolve

Video clips

Hidden transcript sections, removed silence, filler-word cleanup, profanity skip behaviour, and sentence reordering are reflected in the exported timeline.

Multi-Cam angles and layers

Multi-Cam programmes include synchronized angles and source-linked angle cuts. Picture-in-picture and split-screen layouts are represented by editable position, scale, crop, and stacking transforms.

Layers and reusable assets are included with their timing, placement, and sound. Linked variants are represented as nested scenes rather than pre-rendered movies. Check the imported composition and audio in Resolve before finishing.

External or prepared audio

The handoff uses selected, external, normalized, or approved-mix audio as applicable. Available isolated audio components and roles are carried in the FCPXML interchange. Generated audio and selected-stream adapters are saved with the export.

Profanity beep clips

When the variant uses Beep for profanity handling, Sequence places the generated beep clips at the corresponding edited timeline positions.

Titles

Enable native titles to create Basic Title clips from the visible transcript, using your caption formatting and profanity-redaction choices. Resolve exports use regular titles, not the Final Cut Subtitle template.

Title chunks contain at most five words. Sequence reports when it shortens a larger words-per-caption setting. No transcript means no transcript-derived titles; it does not prevent a media-only timeline export.

Markers

Markers are mapped through cuts and reordering. Markers in removed sections are omitted with a warning. Available source timecode remains associated with source clips; the exported sequence starts at zero.

After export

The .fcpxmld bundle is not a guarantee that all original media has been copied. It carries the interchange XML and generated media, while original camera files and assets may still be linked at their existing paths.

Keep the whole bundle and the original sources accessible. When transferring to another machine, send the required source media as well and relink it in Resolve if necessary. Review cuts, frame rate, titles, layouts, and audio before grading or mixing.

Transcript sidecars and automation

Interactive NLE exports also write enabled TXT, CSV, SBV, SRT, ASS, and VTT sidecars from Settings → Export beside the bundle. They use the visible transcript on the final edited timeline and your word/sentence split preference. They are not subtitle tracks inside a rendered movie.

Use the CLI with --destination resolve, or the dedicated MCP Resolve tool, for automation. These return a background job ID; poll completion before importing. Dedicated delivery settings do not inherit the inspector's saved preferences. Keep captionStyle on regularTitles for Resolve, and request transcript/subtitle deliveries separately if you need sidecars.

For an editable handoff to another Sequence user, use a Sequence Package instead. For a single finished file, use Direct Export.
