Transcribe, Edit & Clean-up

Transcription

After you import your media and you’ve downloaded the model, start the transcription. Sequence processes the media locally so don’t worry, your data is NOT being sent to the cloud.

When you create a variant you’ll also be shown the option to copy the transcription over from that tab, saving you time!

Understanding the Workflow

Edit

If a word is wrong, right click it and choose Edit. Sequence opens the word inline so you can type the correction directly in the transcript without leaving the playback view. This is designed for quick, precise fixes rather than rewriting the whole transcript. The action is available on a single selected word while the transcript is editable.

Mark as Correct

After running a transcription you may sometimes see words highlighted in orange, these are known as low confidence words - words that the model likely thinks are correct but with a lower certainty. If you agree with the word then right click and Mark as Correct, this then sets the word to the regular color (this step is entirely optional). If the word isn’t quite right, simply click Edit and you can change the word inline to anything you like.

Disable / Enable

Disable hides the selected word or words from the active transcript and timeline output. This is useful when you want to remove a repeated word, a false recognition, or something you don’t want included, but you still want the edit to remain reversible. Disabled words can be shown again with Enable if the selected word is already hidden, or from the transcript more options menu Enable Disabled Words action when you want to bring manually disabled words back.

Break Sentence

Break Sentence splits a sentence group at the selected word. Use this when the transcript has grouped too much together and you want cleaner sentence timing for review, captions, or export. You can also use the / shortcut when the selected word can be used as a split point.

Move Sentence Up / Down

Move Sentence Up and Move Sentence Down let you re-order sentence groups in the transcript. This is helpful when you are shaping a transcript or paper edit and want a sentence to appear earlier or later.

Group Sentences

When you select words across multiple movable sentence groups, Group Sentences combines those sentences into one group. Use it when a sentence split too aggressively or when two short transcript rows should behave as one unit for editing and re-ordering.

Jump to Word

If you want to move the playhead exactly to one word, then right click your selection and press Jump to Word (⌘J), this will move your current position of playback to that exact point, making it blazing fast to review and edit.

Copy

Copy puts the selected transcript text on your clipboard. If you need everything instead of just the selection, use Copy Full Transcription from the transcript more options; Sequence copies the current presented transcript, so hidden or disabled words are left out and profanity redaction is respected.

Find Others

Find Others searches for the same selected word elsewhere in the transcript. This is particularly handy when you spot a name, technical term, or repeated transcription mistake and want to quickly review the other places it appears.

Clean-up

The transcript more options menu contains the larger clean-up tools. These are different from fixing one word at a time: they scan the transcript and apply the clean-up (filler words, profanity and silence) across the current project or variant, using the settings you’ve configured.

Filler Words

Filler Words looks for configured filler terms such as repeated hesitation words and can be hidden them from the transcript. This is useful when you want the readable transcript, captions, or export to feel tighter without manually selecting every single filler word.

The inspector lets you choose whether this variant should hide filler words or show all words. If you leave it using the app default, Sequence follows the global filler word setting; if you customize it, the variant stores its own override. If you later change your mind, reset clears the variant override and Re-Apply runs the current filler list against any visible leftover matches.

Profanity

Profanity opens the clean-up inspector for words in your profanity list. You can use the app defaults or customize the handling for the current variant, so one version of a project can be stricter while another stays closer to the original media.

For playback and export, Sequence supports Skip, Silence, Beep, and Text Only. Skip removes the profane word from playback/export, Silence mutes that moment, Beep replaces it with a generated beep tone (to your audio’s decibels automatically), and Text Only keeps playback as-is while redacting transcript/caption text.

When the word remains visible as text, you can choose how it is masked: keep the edges, interleave asterisks, or fully mask it, with a custom redaction symbol if you prefer (anything you can type or emojis!).

Your profanity word list is managed from Settings, and the clean-up inspector uses that list when deciding what to apply. Reset clears the variant’s saved profanity playback and caption redaction choices. Re-Apply hides any visible leftover profanity matches using the current word list and settings.

Remove Silence

Remove Silence scans for silent moments using the threshold you set and lets you remove those ranges from the project. Silence removals can be restored, and individual removed silence selections show as Restore Silence in the transcript command menu, so you can pull a pause back in if it turns out to be useful for timing.

Enable Disabled Words

Enable Disabled Words brings back words you manually disabled. It does not mean every filter is permanently removed; filler, profanity, and silence have their own controls and reset options. Think of it as the undo path for manual hide decisions you made from the context menu.

Find Within Transcript

Find Within Transcript opens search inside the transcript view. Use it when you know the word or phrase you want to review but don’t want to scroll through the whole transcript manually.

Delete Transcript

Delete Transcript clears the transcript for the current project. Use this when you want to start again, for example after importing the wrong media, changing your approach, or deciding to re-transcribe from scratch.
