Organise Projects, Folders, Catalogs, and Variants

Catalogs

Catalogs group projects in the library. Create one from the Catalog picker or while moving a project, then use it as a focused workspace for a client, series, channel, or batch of related media.

To move a project, right-click it in the library and choose Move to Catalog, then select an existing Catalog or create a new one. Sequence changes the library assignment without changing the media or transcript.

Unassigned

Unassigned is the built-in location for projects outside a custom Catalog. Deleting a Catalog moves its projects to Unassigned rather than deleting them. You can rename or delete Catalogs you created; the system Unassigned Catalog remains available.

Project folders

Folders organise projects within the active Catalog. Select one or more projects and choose New Project Folder, or create an empty folder from the library toolbar. You can then move projects into an existing folder from their context menu.

Expand or collapse a folder to control how much of the library is visible. Sequence remembers that state. A collapsed folder shows its project count and carries a warning when one of the projects hidden inside has missing media.

Rename a folder from its context menu. When removing one, choose whether to keep its projects in the Catalog or delete the folder and its projects. Read the confirmation carefully: deleting the projects is a separate, destructive choice.

Pin a project or folder

Pin the project or folder you need most often to keep it at the top of the current Catalog. Each Catalog has one pinned top-level item at a time. A project inside a folder belongs to that folder in the top-level ordering, so pin the folder rather than the contained project.

Select and manage several projects

The library supports multi-selection for actions such as creating a folder, moving projects, and deleting projects. This is useful after a bulk import or when reorganising a large Catalog.

Variants

Project variants create alternative versions from the same source media. Each variant appears as a tab and can have its own transcript edits, markers, playback position, normalised audio, silence removals, external audio, filler-word settings, profanity settings, and export choices.

When you create a variant, Sequence lets you create a fresh version or duplicate an existing one. Duplicating can copy the transcript from the source variant, which is useful when you want to try a different edit without losing the work you already did.

Switching between variants

Sequence remembers playback state as you switch between tabs, so you can compare versions without constantly finding your place again. The library selection stays tied to the project while the active tab controls the variant you are editing.

History

Use the History pane to review actions for each variant. Import, remux, normalisation, transcription, profanity cleanup, filler-word cleanup, and other operations show how the version reached its current state.

Project cards also surface active background work and missing-media status, so you can see which item is transcribing, remuxing, normalising, or waiting for a relink without opening every project.
